A woman at the India-China border in the Nabhidang area has declared herself an incarnation of Goddess Parvati and is refusing to leave the restricted zone. Reports indicate that she has threatened to commit suicide if forcibly removed.
According to PTI, Harminder Kaur from Lucknow entered the prohibited area in Nabhidang and has refused to depart, claiming she is an avatar of Goddess Parvati and will only marry Lord Shiva, who resides in Mount Kailash. Police attempting to evacuate her returned unsure of how to proceed, as she has warned of self-harm if anyone tries to move her.
Pithoragarh SP Lokendra Singh stated, “We believe Harminder Kaur, who claims to be Goddess Parvati’s incarnation, may be mentally distressed. We have decided to send a larger team to safely bring her back.”
The woman, a resident of Aliganj in Uttar Pradesh, had traveled to the Kanchi region with her mother on a 15-day permit. Kanchi lies on the route to Kailash-Mansarovar. Her permit expired on May 25, but she refuses to leave.
“A three-member police team, including two sub-inspectors and an inspector, failed to rescue her from the restricted area. We are now planning to send a larger team of 12 personnel, including medical staff, to safely retrieve her,” the SP added.
