The Trump family has unveiled its latest business venture — a mobile phone brand and wireless service called Trump Mobile, along with a flagship smartphone dubbed the T1. Announced by Eric Trump and Donald Trump Jr. at Trump Tower in New York, the launch coincides with the 10th anniversary of Donald Trump’s 2015 presidential campaign.

“We’ve partnered with some of the greatest people in the industry to make sure that real Americans get true value from their mobile carriers,” said Donald Trump Jr., executive vice president at the Trump Organization.

A Trump-Branded Smartphone and Mobile Plan

Trump Mobile will operate as a Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO), utilizing the infrastructure of all three major U.S. carriers — Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile — to deliver its wireless services. The brand also revealed the T1 smartphone, a gold-accented Android device priced at $499, which it claims is manufactured in the United States.

The entry of the Trump family into the telecom sector comes amid former President Donald Trump’s vocal push for U.S.-based tech manufacturing. Notably, Trump has recently threatened tariffs on companies like Apple and Samsung if they continue assembling devices outside the U.S.

Introducing the ‘47 Plan’

Trump Mobile’s signature offering, the “47 Plan”, will provide:

The plan is priced at $47.45/month, subtly nodding to Trump’s bid to become the 47th president of the United States. Users can either bring their own phones or purchase the Trump-branded T1.

A 250-seat customer support center will be based in the U.S. to provide assistance, highlighting the brand’s pro-American manufacturing and employment stance.

Business and Political Overlap Raises Questions

Although the Trump Organization stated it is not directly involved in the development or distribution of the telecom service, the initiative has raised conflict of interest concerns, given Trump’s ongoing business interests during his presidency.

The project is being operated by T1 Mobile LLC, a company leveraging the Trump name and branding under license. Trademark filings by DTTM Operations LLC last week confirm efforts to secure rights for the “Trump” and “T1” names across various telecom-related products and services, including phones, accessories, and even retail stores.

Part of a Bigger Trend

Trump Mobile joins a growing list of businesses aiming to align with conservative consumers — a strategy seen earlier with the launch of Truth Social, Trump’s social media platform. This model is increasingly popular, as other celebrities and public figures have also begun launching MVNOs targeting niche audiences.

Still, experts note that despite the “Made in America” claim, sourcing all components and assembly within the U.S. at scale remains a logistical and economic challenge, especially in a market dominated by overseas production.

Regulatory Influence in the Spotlight

Trump, who appointed Brendan Carr to lead the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), has also recently intervened in disputes involving U.S. wireless providers and 5G spectrum development — most notably, with EchoStar Corp., which owns the Boost Mobile network.

As Trump eyes re-election and promotes American self-reliance in manufacturing and tech, Trump Mobile could serve both as a political signal and a commercial opportunity — though its long-term viability remains to be seen.
